Aleah - Kindergarten Year

Aleah's kindergarten year was an interesting year for sure.  Overall, it was really good, but it had a crazy ending!  She was not nervous at all to start school; she was so excited!  She got to be in class with her cousin Madelyn, and she loved her teacher, Mrs. Winkler!

Aleah ditched her training wheels the first week of kindergarten!  She was ready!
She also decided she was ready to get her ears pierced!  She was not scared at all!

Reading Night at school:
Aleah had a rough morning with one of her earrings being crusted over and hurting... so I did something I never do... said she'd be late to school, dropped Lucas off at preschool, fixed her ear, took her to breakfast alone with mommy, and then dropped her off at school.  I think she needed it!
Georgetown Fair Queen Tea with cousin Hadley:

Sound asleep at a LOUD Illini game.  She has always been able to sleep anywhere!
Right after some of these fun events, Aleah's Kindergarten year had a very abrupt ending!  Reading night was March 3rd... The Fair Queen Tea was March 7th.... The Illini game was March 8th... She had a spring concert the afternoon of March 13th... We were supposed to go back that night for the evening concert.... and due to the seemingly sudden arrival of the Corona virus, she never went back to school the rest of the year!  It was so shocking!  First no evening concert... then no school until after spring break... and then the rest of the year was canceled!

We did remote learning for the last quarter of the year:

Aleah lost her first tooth on her birthday, which was also the day before Easter.  So, she got birthday gifts, a visit from the tooth fairy, and a visit from the Easter Bunny all in one weekend!
She stole my phone.  Where did she learn this?
She did great with remote learning.  She is a smart, focused girl!

Just a fun day with friends:
Being silly and dressing like a TV character:
I don't know if Aleah will remember anything about her kindergarten year or not, but it was certainly unprecedented and looks like it will carry into her 1st grade year as well.  Aleah is laid back and resilient, so I think she handled it well, although she was very sad to not see her teacher again aside from the farewell parade.  Hopefully some sense of normalcy will return at some point during her 1st grade year!
