Purchasing Manager

Speedco Rewards

This post will likely greatly embarrass my husband.  But if you're reading this Josh, don't worry.  Not that many people read my blog.  This is more for personal, family record than anything else!!

Today Josh is officially starting a new position at work as the new Purchasing Manager of his company.  The funny thing is that this is the position that Josh interviewed for almost exactly nine years ago, not long after we graduated from college!  I remember telling my boss at the time about Josh's interview.  He asked me if Josh knew anything about semi-trucks.  I said no.  He laughed and said, "Well then he's never going to get that job."  I remember feeling a little shocked and offended.  I wanted to prove him wrong so badly.  But, he was right.  Josh didn't have the knowledge or the experience for that position at that time.  As a young and maybe slightly naive new bride, I had confidence that my husband could do any position and do it well!

He was not hired for that position at that time, but it turned out that they liked his interview.  Many, many months after interviewing him for the Purchasing Manager position, they contacted him and offered him a different position, Risk Manager.  After nearly a year of temping and neither one of us having any health benefits, this was a great blessing!

Ironically enough, that same week, the company he was temping for also offered him a position with a competitive salary, well at least to us at that time.  It was a tough decision.  It was in Danville, where we were living, and this job was in Indiana.  After lots of talking and praying, we still weren't 100% confident of our decision, but Josh decided to take the Risk Manager position.  Well, here we are nine years later, and Josh is still there and was just given his first promotion, to Purchasing Manager.

I'm proud of him for being such a hard worker with such a great work ethic.  He's had a tough position for the last nine years (often dealing with very angry customers), but he has rarely complained.  I'm proud of the work that he has done, for the knowledge that he has acquired, and for the confidence he has earned from his bosses.  I know he will be fantastic and make everyone proud in his new position.

Good job, Josh!  We're proud of you!!!
