Home Renovations

We got on a kick this spring of doing some overdue home repairs/updates.  We hired some help, and we did a lot ourselves.  Even though nothing seems "major," it was all a lot of work, time, and money, haha!

The hallway bathroom looks so much better and much more modern!

Our biggest improvement was having the shower stall taken out of our master bath and having a full bathtub put in.  We went from only me using the master bath to everyone using it all the time now.  That means we have a lot of stuff in there, but it also means our hall bath stays looking pretty good almost all of the time!  Eventually, I will kick the kids back out to the other bathroom.... :)
Although not very exciting, we had new back doors put in.  I'm guessing the old ones were original to the house, and they were leaking a lot of air in.  I'm sure it was not good for our power bill.  Also, while we were at it, we had the whole house re-keyed, so now we have a key to our front door as well (for the first time in 9 years!).  I sewed these new curtains to match my others because I didn't want to replace the other 4 curtains!

Our updates included:
  • 2 new toilets (they were old and had clogging issues with little kids who use lots of toilet paper; we got a more powerful flush!)
  • 1 new bathtub/shower-Hallelujah!
  • 4 new ceiling fans (we never liked the old ones!)
  • 1 new bathroom light fixture
  • 2 new backdoors
  • 1 new bathroom door and trim (a sliding barn door for the master bath because the swinging one was always in the way!)
  • New Bathroom cabinet & mirror
  • 2 New Shower curtains, etc.
  • 3 new door handles/locks with matching locks
  • New hallway door handles
  • Repaired broken door window
  • Plumbing repairs: garbage disposal, bathroom sink drain, new hardware in hall bath shower, new water heater
  • Repainted the old bathtub in the hallway bath
  • Sewed new backdoor curtains
  • Lots of paint: hallway doors, hardware, mirrors, both bathrooms, new doors, etc.
