Summer Baseball - Jacob

Jacob's baseball season was long and intense and so much fun.  It was definitely our longest activity of the year, lasting from the beginning of April until the end of July.  He played rec ball, and he played on an all-star team that played in 3 tournaments and a few random doubleheaders.  Hannah decided not to play this year, which eased the schedule up a bit.  But Josh also coached Aleah's tball team!  Our family is getting really, really good at 2nd place, which is hard sometimes, but character building, right?

The Cobras won first place in the Georgetown tournament!  Unfortunately, it was pretty boring, as we won every game by the mercy rule.

The Covington tournaments proved to be tougher.  We got 2nd place to Mahomet, who we beat the first two times we played them in the tournament.

We thought his rec league team earned first place for the regular season, but some rule discrepancies placed us in 2nd place.  It was a bummer, and we have no doubt we were the best team, but it is what it is.  I'm not bitter.  Yes I am.  I'll just say no one had a better record than us, no one scored more runs than us, and no one allowed fewer runs than us.  But yeah... we got second.

We played another team in the tournament championship (not the team who got 1st for the season), but we lost this game as well to a team that we had beat earlier in the season.  We just literally did not show up to this game.  It was rough and a major bummer.  But we had a fantastic season.  So proud of these boys!

We had one final ridiculously long Cobras tournament.  Jacob and I were at the ball diamonds in Indiana at 6:30 am our time and didn't leave until 8 pm.  Basically, they decided to cram a 2-day tournament into one day.  It was such a long day.  The boys were so tired - I believe they played 7 games that day.  It was dumb and clearly decided by a man.

We AGAIN came out in 2nd place.  Man!

We had a fun end of the season party at the Meithes.
They had a whiffle ball field.  We could hardly get the boys to stop and eat:

Jake had a great season.  He mostly played 1st base for Site One and 3rd base for Cobras.  He had a great batting average - I wouldn't be surprised if it was the best on the team.  He almost always managed to get on base.  He had some nice hits.  He made some great plays.  And he is kind and a great sport.  I'm super proud of him, and while baseball season is crazy, he loves it, and that makes it so much fun and worth it for us!
