Jacob: Getting Ready for Kindergarten

This school year was Jacob's last year at home with mommy.  We had a hard time deciding what to do with him this year.  Honestly, he was really, really ready to go to kindergarten, but he just wasn't old enough.  We talked about it, and we talked to the preschool teachers, and we decided it would be best for him to just do Thursday school this year and work on things at home.  I think it worked out well for the most part, but I do think Jacob was bored and needed more of a challenge than he got, considering I was also pregnant most of the year and not always as organized as I could have been.
Jacob did work on his reading a lot this year.  I cannot believe how well he is reading.  Hannah is going into 2nd grade and is reading very well for her age.  But what's amazing is that Jacob is reading nearly as well as she is, and he hasn't even started kindergarten!  I feel like he just taught himself how to read, although I'm sure Hannah, TV, and I all had at least a little to do with it.  It's quite amazing to watch.  He's also already very good at math and just general knowledge.  He is one smart kid!  He had a reading log this year, and he got a Coke when he reached 50 books read, which he was very excited about!
We started checking things off our list for kindergarten before Lucas was born.  We visited the eye doctor, dentist, and got Jacob's 5 year immunizations done.  We had kindergarten orientation with cousin Landon:
We also had the final Thursday school graduation.  This was the last year of the program, which we were sad about!  Hannah and Jacob both did it, and Aleah was going to be old enough to start in the fall!  Bummer!  But we are thankful that Jacob got to participate this year, especially since he didn't do church preschool.
Jacob loved his Thursday school friends, and we are very thankful for his sweet teachers!

I can't believe it, but I have to say, my little man is ready for kindergarten!

(PS-We went to my nephew Landon's preschool graduation.
He's ready to join Jacob in Kindergarten this fall!)
