Aspen

We got to go on vacation to Aspen, CO with Josh's mom's side of the family for the 4th of July.  All of Josh's siblings were able to make it, which is no small feat!  Getting our family to and from Aspen ending up being no small feat either, as we decided to fly into Denver and make the drive each way.  The drive almost ended in a nightmare both times, but here we are, living to tell about it!
On the first day, we took a gondola ride up Aspen Mountain.  It was very beautiful!

At the top of the mountain, we took a "small" hike:

There was a really neat restaurant at the top of the mountain with some recreational activities like hula hooping!

After the mountain, the kids really wanted to go to the pool:
Our family had our own condo, which worked out really great.  The kids had their own room:
We had our own room:
And we had a kitchen/living room/dining room:

That night we went downtown for ice cream and to play at the park.
There were always musicians on this street corner.

On day two, the cousins had arrived and we headed to Maroon Bells:
I have seen this destination on a "top 10 most beautiful places in the US,"
and after visiting there, I have to agree.  It didn't seem real!

We did another "small" hike at Maroon Bells.  The kids were troopers!

Aleah napped!

When we got back to Aspen, we took the gondola back up the mountain and spotted a bear!
We enjoyed the restaurant again with amazing views:

We hit the ice cream shop and park again:

The kids decided to sleep upstairs so Aleah could have her own room:

On day three, we went to Snowmass for a dinosaur dig.
It didn't end up being exactly what we thought, but we made the most of it!

We went back to Aspen and rented bikes and took a BEAUTIFUL bike ride:

Our last full day was the 4th of July:
There was a carnival for the kids:

and a great parade:

And then back up Aspen Mountain for some more play fun:

And of course fireworks:

It was a great trip and unlike anything we have ever experienced.
If Bob and Jody end up retiring there as planned, I'm sure this is just the first of many trips!
