Michigan vacations are sort of becoming "our thing," at least for this stage in life! We have gone up to the lake 3 of the past 4 years (in 2018, we went to Disney). It worked out especially well this year, as travel was so uncertain due to the Corona pandemic. I'm glad we didn't have flights booked to another destination. We were not sure if our trip would be canceled, but much of Michigan had opened up by the time of our trip, and we felt that we were able to do it safely. We rented a house to ourselves in the woods. Social distancing is easy on the beach. And every restaurant and store absolutely REQUIRED face masks. We had a great time, and we all stayed healthy!

We all wore our "Pray for Lincoln" shirts on the first day. Their family was definitely on our hearts.

We ate at a super yummy restaurant that we had been to the year before, Greenbush Brewery. So good!
We didn't plan to go to the beach our first night but decided to go watch the sunset. The kids all had their clothes on, so we started by saying they could just put their feet in. Before we knew it, they were all shoulder deep (except Lucas who prefers to just play in the sand). They had so much fun; it was fun to sit back and watch them!
There was lots of game time on vacation:
We discovered this cute little bakery this year. It was so good, we went twice!
Our first day was gloomy and misty, so we decided to make it our shopping day. We had thought we'd do it later in the week because we were anxious to get to the beach... but the weather schedule worked out best this way. The kids had fun getting a few things for back-to-school!
That night, we ate at Redamak's. Funny story... they are cash only, so Josh and I were pooling our money and adding up what we could order. I think we had $80... but with 6 people, that goes fast, haha! Next year, we'll plan better. Oops!
Since we still hadn't had a beach day, we had to at least go watch the sunset at the beach!
Josh played catch with the kids. I mostly watched it could have sat there forever.
The next day was FINALLY a beach day! Yay!
The Strungas / Sanders happened to be super close to us so we got to meet up a few times!
That night we ate at one of our favorites, Silver Beach Pizza!
And ice cream for dessert.... because... it's vacation!
The next morning, Josh made us hike one of the dunes. Talk about good exercise!
Josh and Mike took the kids on a hike to a special spot:
We, of course, had to pick blueberries in Michigan!
We also had a private tour of a local dairy farm. It was really interesting. I learned a lot!
The next day, we went to a fun park! Go-Karting!

Aleah was very brave and had an absolute blast in the waves!
We had to go back to Silver Beach Pizza for a second visit!
And, we had to do the family bike ride around downtown again. It is NOT easy! Maybe as the kids' legs get stronger, it will get easier. We have to have this size for 6 people, but it is recommended to have at least 4 adults pedaling. It's a workout!
We had some really yummy (and expensive) ice cream at Kilwin's. The line went down the block!

And then we decided we needed just a little more beach time before heading home!
So hard to leave!
