Aleah's First Weeks: Fun Facts

Fun Facts about Aleah's Birthday:
  • It's a palindrome: 4.11.14
  • Her birthday will be on Easter Sunday when she's 52.
  • The only other Aleah I know, Aleah Carder, was also born on the 11th (of September).
  • Aleah's birthday is on her Aunt Betsy's 1/2 b-day.  It was two days after my half birthday.
  • Her Uncle Nathan guessed her birth date exactly right in our family pool, which is pretty impressive since my pregnancies are so unpredictable!
Fun Facts about Aleah's First Weeks at Home:
  • For the first two weeks, I barely ever put her down.  We even slept together in my recliner almost every night because she sleeps better with me than in her bed.  She had a couple of 5-6 hour nights!
  • Her first Sunday at church was Easter Sunday!
  • We took her home from the hospital in 80 degree weather and took her to her first doctor appointment in the snow, 4 days later!
  • Her middle name was decided right before we left the hospital; we were torn between Grace and Ruth but both decided we liked Grace better with the flow of her name and with Hannah's name.
  • If she had been a boy, her name likely would have been Luke.
  • The doctor couldn't get over how pink her skin was and how much hair she had.  Although she does have a lot of hair, I think she has the least of my three, and it is definitely the lightest, so it will be interesting to see what color it ends up being!
  • I lost about 25 lbs in the first week!
  • Aleah poops A LOT, but so far, she doesn't spit up!
  • She lost her umbilical cord on day 11
  • Hannah never had a pacifier; Jacob got one at about 2 months; Aleah got one on her first night home.
  • Lots of people brought us dinners and gifts!
  • I am so in love with this little girl.
This verse kept coming to mind over these first few weeks, "Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows."  James 1:17
